USS believes that education is the key factor to build a worthy Nation. Considering this USS has taken different initiatives in its lifetime. Few examples are - Basic Literacy Program, Creating an Enabling Environment for the Children with Disabilities (CECD), Amar Adhiker Campaign (a campaign for ensuring quality primary education for the children).
As per information from Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, the literacy rate of above 15 years age people are 72.30% that indicates that about 28% of 15 years above peoples are illiterate. In order to promote desired socio-economic development it is essential to educate the entire citizen in the country. To educate all the people it is essential to introduce non-formal education. Considering that USS has implemented Basic Literacy Project in 2018 at Jhikorgacha Upazila under Jashore district. The project has targeted 18000 learners of both men and women. Learner selection, selection/ training of teachers, committee formation and operation, teaching to learners and community gathering was the main activities. Through this 9000 men and 9000 women have literate and have got certificate from Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Jhikorgacha Upazila , Jashore.
